Pedicures, Paper Shoes, and Sandwiches. Why This Valley Girl Has Fallen For Downtown.

toes

As a single mother of a teenage girl, not only do I seldom have time for the big things like hair appointments and happy hour, but I am forced to neglect the ever so important little things like pedicures and lunch with my girlfriends.  I have been doomed to a life of Facebook relationships and even more to my dismay doing my own toes!  Not anymore!

I recently started working downtown in the hip trendy Southpark district at the old Federal Reserve Bank on Olympic and Olive.  I live in Woodland Hills and if any of you are at all familiar with the West Valley, you already know that NOONE walks anywhere.  It’s not for a lack of energy or desire, it’s just that the Valley is built around the notion that you must pack your one child into your Hummer to go five miles to the nearest grocery.  You can imagine how elated I was to find a Ralphs within two blocks of my new job!  And restaurants, wow!  I had no idea how many great places there were within five minutes walking distance of here.  From your high end establishments to the down home downtown staples.

Which leads me to the pinnacle of my Southpark satisfaction.  Today on my lunch break, which lasts an hour, I managed to multitask like nobodies business.  Up one block and two over I met my girlfriend for lunchtime pedicures.  It was great!  We got caught up on all the current events, i.e. who’s dating who, leaving who, and who’s who.  I than put on my paper shoes provided by the manicurist and headed across the street to grab a quick delicious tuna sandwich, than back to the office.

Working at The Reserve Lofts definitely has it’s advantages!  I can just imagine how much more convenient my life could be if I lived here!
